Mr. Jean-François NOARO, Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Monaco, took part in the traditional Conference of Honorary Consuls of Seychelles, which took place from October 25 to 28, 2023 in Mah and was officially launched by the President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, at State House, on Tuesday evening.
This year’s edition, the first to be held physically since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, was based on the theme ‘Harnessing Opportunities through Diplomatic Relations’. The conference discussed how to explore opportunities to bring additional benefits in various areas of national importance to Seychelles. These discussions included presentations from various sectors, such as Blue Economy, Tourism and Aquaculture development, amongst others.
On Thursday 27th October, in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, the honorary consuls had the opportunity to visit the 26 districts of the three main islands and engage in discussions with the district authorities. The aim of this exercise was to invite the consuls to “Adopt a district”. The visit helped them to understand the needs of the communities and create a partnership with their adopted districts.
On Friday 28th October, the final day of the conference, the consuls deliberated on their district visits and also provide their feedback on the various presentations and ways forward from the group discussions.
A total of 72 honorary consuls, consuls general and honorary consuls-designate attended the above-mentioned conference.
