“Mission Océan Indien 2022”
Organized by Monaco Explorations from October 03 to November 30, 2022, the mission was based on the study of two well-identified marine areas with 6 stages, including one on the Aldabra Atoll, located in the Seychelles and listed as a UNESCO natural marine heritage site.
Before the mission, the southwest part of the Indian Ocean was largely unknown. The expedition, wich covered a journey of approximately 13,500 km over 2 months, has bridged the gap in knowledge through studies of physical and chemical environment, the living environment, ocean-atmosphere exchanges and human impacts.
The purpose was also to encourage the transmission of knowledge to as wide an audience as possible through an awareness program.
